Ramune Drink

What soft drink originates from Japan, has instructions for opening, and contains a marble? Ramune Drink! Who knew a beverage could be so fascinating and fun?

How to open
1. Remove the seal from the top. (This makes so much sense.)
2. Detach the plunger from the center of the cap.
3. Place the plunger on top of the bottle.
4. Press down firmly with the base of your palm to release the marble.
5. Throw away the seal, cap, and plunger.
6. Have fun drinking Ramune!

Before I follow these instructions, let’s take a closer look at the bottle’s design.

The lower half.

Now let’s let the real fun begin!

Would you just look at those bubbles on the marble? I did. For several seconds. Probably too many seconds.

The marble rolls back as I tilt the bottle toward my mouth, allowing the liquid to pass through. Gulp, gulp, gulp. Hmm, tastes like citrus-flavored seltzer. Burp.

I’d buy this beverage again because it’s fun to drink and look at, but not so much for how it tastes.

Ramune is such a cool drink. I’d never seen anything like it before trying it in Japan a year ago. I’m glad it’s available in the States.

Have you tried melon? I like it the most out of all the flavors. There’s also strawberry, lychee, orange, lemon and peach.

I’m always looking for new things to try, and I will have to check this out. Just the bottle alone intrigues me.

Dragonfly: Thanks for the recommendation. I’m going to try the melon and lychee flavors next.

Stacie: The bottle’s look is what attracted me to it (does that make me shallow?). I know some people collect the bottles after drinking them. I’ve got two so far.

Is the marble meant to be removed after the drink is consumed, and kept to be played with???………

    Asian Aisle says:

Tigerlille: The marble remains inside the drink after it’s consumed, so it’s not meant to be removed. However, I have heard of people going to (great) lengths to remove it; some have been successful. YouTube has videos of people opening this drink, if you’re curious to see it in action.
