3 Grain Cereal

I started eating breakfast again about a year ago, after not really having it for several years. I think I felt I was ‘too busy’ to make or grab something to eat, but it was really that I was lazy. So finding a quick, tasty, and nutritious breakfast item like this 3 Grain Cereal was a bit of a godsend.

This cereal is a blend of wheat, rice, and corn. And if I’m to believe the rest of the description on the box, it’s also fat free and an excellent source of calcium and vitamin C.

I have to emphasize something here: These three easy steps should be followed. Don’t, say, pour the contents of a cereal packet into a mug, fill the mug with cold water, and then put the mug into a microwave to warm. If you do those three dumb steps, you’ll probably be wiping up the contents of the mug that overflowed into the microwave. Yes, I’m speaking from experience. A bad, bad experience.

The 3 grain cereal after it’s been stirred with a spoon.

I think it tastes like instant oatmeal, but better in that it’s only slightly sweet. You can also drink it after you’ve stirred it because it’s not thick. Oh, and one more positive, maybe the most important—it’s comforting.

I’ve had stuff like this too. My parents bring back all sorts of powdered mixes from Taiwan. (And one time, after that airport law went into effect, they got their mooncakes confiscated. So did a HECK of a lot of other asian people coming back. They took away all their mooncakes. It was like, “Noooooooooo…….!!” And my dad was like, mom shouldn’t have said there was egg yolk in there when they asked if there was any liquid or gel in it. )

Lian: I would be so upset if food that I’d purchased got taken away from me. Don’t get between me and my food! And mooncakes—ouch! Those things are expensive! Wow, I just realized I’d used three exclamation points in this reply; I guess I just got worked up. ;-)
