Beer Pretz (Spicy Chicken Flavor)

I’m about write something that will disappoint some of you. I’m sorry, but this Beer Pretz doesn’t taste like beer. It isn’t even made with beer. (At least I don’t think it is. None of the items on the long ingredients list is ‘beer’ but then again, I don’t know what all of items on the list actually are.) This snack’s name and the glass of beer pictured are meant to suggest that it goes with beer. I can’t tell you whether it does because I didn’t drink beer while eating it. But I can tell you how it tastes.

These baked biscuit sticks are crunchy, well-seasoned (see the flecks of seasoning in the last photo?), faintly spicy, and taste like chicken broth (one of the ingredients is ‘chicken extract powder’). They’re also too easy to eat (like their Pocky cousin)—three bites, some chewing, and I’m done with one stick…I took eighteen bites. Or thirty. Hmm, I guess I’m not really complaining about them being too easy to eat.

Mmmmm…Now that I know it’s not beer-flavored, I’m compelled to try it. I saw beer Pretz at Mitsuwa too, but assumed it was beer-flavored and said a mental, “No thank you” in my head. I don’t drink either.
Those last two pictures (the last picture especially are like, “I WAAAAANT.” I love macro shots.
Oh! P.S.–I also saw Pumpkin Pretz.

Lian: I don’t think I’ve seen Pumpkin Pretz at the Japanese supermarket I go to. I looked it up online and it seems like it’s made with kabocha, a Japanese winter squash I love. Someone on LJ recommended the Pizza Pretz. So far I’ve only tried this flavor of Pretz.
