Pork Sung (Cooked Shredded Dried Pork)

Added as a topping to rice or noodle dishes, or congee (Asian rice porridge), this very dry shredded pork literally helps make a meal. Heck, you can even eat it straight out of the container with your fingers. If you’ve been reading this site long enough, you know which method I pick.

Pork sung that got stuck to the lid after I pried it off the container. Looks a bit freaky, huh?

I’ve never tried this. Looks interesting–that last pic is sorta freaky.

Annalise: I think it’s worth trying. :-) There are lots of things you can add it to, or it can easily be eaten (like candy!) on its own.

Yeah, I know what this is. My brother loves it. There’s a bakery bread with this. Usu. also with green onion.

Lian: I always pass up pastries with this at Asian bakeries, in favor of others I like more (e.g., red bean, custard).

PORK FLOSS!!! It is the secret ingredient in my homemade maki rolls. Great stuff.

StoneMaven: Uh, I guess it’s a not-so-secret ingredient anymore? LOL. Now that you’ve mentioned it, I think I’ve had pork sung/floss in some type of sushi roll before, although I can’t remember when or where.
