Choco Pie

If eating this Choco Pie for breakfast is wrong, then I don’t mind being wrong.

I’ve mentioned before that I like snacks that come in little packs. This is 25 cents of slighty sweet goodness (a box of these contains 12 and cost me about three dollars).

chocopie6

A chocolate pie with a marshmallow-like center between two light, crumbly layers.

My only complaint about this sandwich pie is that the chocolate flavor could be stronger, then it would go from tasting good to great.

I prefer “Orion” brand instead of “Lotte.” Orion is the first company to sell this now-generic choco-pie. Like any other asian cookies/snacks, this has become generic, everyone copying one another.
I don’t know what it is about Orion chocopie, but I somehow taste the difference. I’m also somewhat OCD about preferring the original. :-)
If you can, try Orion next time.

Diane: It does make a good and convenient on-the-go snack.

June: I also saw the Orion brand at the store, and had a hard time choosing between it and the Lotte one. I guess I know which brand to get next time! I’ve been having this nagging feeling that the Lotte one could be better each time I eat it.

Orion brand is the best, IMO, especially if you like a slightly firmer cookie. They are the original and still the gold standard in choco pies. Have been around at least 35 years that I know of. And, how do I know? Ha ha! In a pinch a person can subsist on them with Korean milk 3 times a day for several days at a time. BTW, Korean milk-MUCH better than American milk. They sweeten it you see, and the flavor is incomparable. Seoul brand is about the best. Can’t be had over here though. Must be local to be good.

When my family lived in Korea, our Korean cleaning lady used to bring us kids those. They are SOO yummy.

I love the fact that the chocolate covers the whole thing, not two separate biscuits with chocolate and separate layer of cream.. noo let’s dip the whole thing at once! Love the way of thinking!

MJ: What a nice and thoughtful gesture on the part of that lady!

Veronica: Ah, yes, that is definitely a good thing about this pie.

I think & prefer orion pie over choco pie. B’coz Orion Pie doesn’t contain Trans Fat as Choco Pie.

Anny: Readers seem to prefer the Orion brand over the Lotte one. I have yet to do an official taste test…I know, I need to get on it!
