Strawberry Bubble Tea, Pearl Soybean Drink With Tapioca Ball (Strawberry Flavoured)

This iced Strawberry Bubble Tea, with its blend of fresh strawberries, tea, and milk, can make a small meal. But before I get to how, let’s examine the ‘cute’ top design found on these drinks (I got this one from a Taiwanese bubble tea place in Chinatown).

I guess this would be cute to some people.

But the glowing orange/red eyes are scaring me a little. And no, I’m not an intellectual and eloquent Gemini.

(The standard, fat straw for these drinks that you stab through the top.)

So back to what I was saying about this drink being a small meal. It can feel that way because not only are you drinking strongly flavored tea (as this drink was), but you’re also slurping and chewing soft tapioca balls.

I don’t really care for how they taste, but I do like their chewiness.

Now, although this drink also has tapioca balls, it doesn’t taste like the Strawberry Bubble Tea.

Rather, it’s strawberry-flavored soymilk…

with opaque tapioca balls that are so small you can slurp them up—no chewing required—and be able to feel how soft they are.
How do you like your bubble tea, in terms of flavors and fixings?

At my old job I made bubble tea and those cup sealer machines that put the tops on the cups are freaking amazing!
Speaking of bubble tea…I shall go get some!
I have never tried Bubble Tea, but I have meaning to for quite some time. These look delicious! I like Tapioca and I like tea, I need to try it as a combo:)
I love bubble tea! Probably too much because I think it was the cause of my Freshman Fifteen. My favorite flavors are coconut or taro with rainbow (multicolored) jelly and the balls. That’s for when I get it iced in the summer. In the winter I like it hot with the balls and red beans.
My: The cup-sealing machines are indeed very cool. I like watching the sealing part of the process while I wait for my drink to be made.
Stacie: It sounds like you have bubble tea places in your area, so it’s worth trying if you can. Chewing tapioca balls is kind of like chewing gum.
Katelyn: I’ve never tried coconut-flavored bubble tea, but it does sound refreshing. I also like rainbow jelly and red beans as fixings.

I’ve always liked seeing what [cute] designs they have for the plastic tops. And, I have not done this myself mind you, but I hear of people who use Boba and the straws as spitballs! AHH! Haha. I haven’t had boba in a while. I think I used to like Taro flavor. And original, of course.
Lian: Oh my gosh, tapioca balls make ideal spitballs! I mean, you don’t have to make the spitballs (ewww); you just need to suck ‘em up, aim, and shoot. Thanks for sharing this idea, ha.

Oh no! I’ve become a bad influence!
Lian: Puh-lease. As if you weren’t already one.

I like Taro the best too–but I get it with no tapioca balls. They remind me of eyeballs!!!
No tapioca balls?! What!? But that’s like, the essence of the drink.
I remember when I was little we called them frog eggs. (Because our older cousins told us that and convinced us that that was really what it was.) And yet I still consumed them.
Green tea is okay, Mango is nice, but my favorite is Lychee….mmmm. I’ve never tried strawberry., but it sounds good.
I live in the middle of farmland nowhere and the closest bubble tea is about an hour and 20 minutes away.
So funny! I actually had to ban my husband from Bubble Tea for a little while years ago because he couldn’t be trusted not to spit Boba at me. And at passing cars. And people we didn’t know. And…well you get the idea. He even agreed that he shouldn’t use the Boba as spit balls and STILL couldn’t be trusted!
Then we got Bubble Tea like a year later and he didn’t spit Boba at anyone or anything. I didn’t say a word but secretly bought him a whole bag of dried Boba so he could eat them at home. He was very pleased with his present and has stopped spitting Boba.
Deanne: This is reminding me of Pocky–so many flavors available!
Pademelon: I have to throw in another “Oh my gosh” because your comment was so funny. If you hadn’t said you were talking about your husband and instead said it was just someone you knew, I would have thought that person was a kid or teenager.
It was actually really funny at the time because he really couldn’t control himself. He tried to be sneaky about it like a little kid would, which made me laugh, but I feared that finding humor in it would only encourage him! He’s got this amazing ability to hold on to that way of seeing things the way he did when he was little, which I think is wonderful and something the world needs more of, and we have great fun! However, once in a while, he manages to go overboard and I have to do something like ban Boba. He’s a riot and definitely one-of-a-kind.
I’m loving your site (which I found via Pioneer Woman) because we are total trouble in Asian grocery stores! We both turn into little kids and buy all sorts of things based solely on awesome packaging or crazy food combos. It’s nice to know we aren’t the only ones at the mercy of curiosity for what goodies the store or aisle will contain this time!
Pademelon: I think your husband’s ability to, well, still act like a kid, rocks (except when it gets him into trouble with you
), as does your (secret) support of it.
My favorite flavor is black cherry. The person part of the design is a chibi which is a way to draw characters in anime and manga (a Japanese cartoon/comic) watch Ouran High School Host club at http://www.animefreak.tv
