Onion Flavored Rings

I like chips of all different flavors, brands, sizes, and textures, so I don’t know why I waited so long to try these Onion Flavored Rings when I’ve seen this item at Asian markets for years.

I finally did the other day, and was rewarded in my first bite.

These chips are really onion-y (have-a-mint-ready-to-erase-the-taste onion-y; the next person you speak with will thank you, trust me).

They’re also crunchy. And not really salty; I couldn’t even taste the salt (but maybe that’s just me). The chips remind me of FUNYUNS Onion Flavored Rings. But I wonder if they could be more onion-y than FUNYUNS…

*Gaaaassp!* These! I absolutely LOVE these! They do taste more “real” when compared to Funyuns. I guess, the powdered onion taste is evident? (Okay, my description makes it sound worse when it’s actually very good!) I could eat SO much of them in one sitting. And of course, this is one of those foods where you just want to stack a whole bunch of them on your fingers, just to see how many you can fit. (Like a ring toss game!)
And I agree, it’s not a “salty” taste you taste, but a savory taste. Mmm…genuine savory chips.

Lian: Heh, I like your enthusiasm for these chips. I do recall you saying you liked them in a previous comment. :-) I’ve been steadily working my way through eating a bag of them, for the past few days, and I swear they taste better and better each time. You’re right, they are addictive. I may have also played with one or two of the rings—an easy thing to do as well.

There’s something you should try. There’s this brand of ice cream called Maeda-en. It’s Japanese and they have a Lychee sherbert flavor that is absolutely divine. *I’m eating it now* It’s not tart like sherberts usually are. Okay, it’s giving me the red squiggly so I guess I should say “sorbet.” The ice cream is sweet and has chunks of coconut flesh in it. (That’s what it says on the container. I thought it was lychee pieces at first.) Anyway, it’s really reeeeally good.
Also, they have a green tea flavor that is also verrry delicious. Tastes like green tea all right!
There is also red bean and mango flavor. (I haven’t ever had the mango flavor. I think the red bean is alright. It didn’t wow me like the others did though. But it’s not bad.)

Lian: Oh! I’ve eyed Maeda-en sorbets and/or ice creams a couple of times at my local Japanese supermarket. But I picked up mochi ice cream instead. I’m going to have to try the lychee-flavored sorbet; it sounds really delicious (so does the green tea; heck, so does the mango). Thanks for all of your recommendations, I do appreciate them.
