Instant Coffee Mix

instantcoffeemix1

When I want a real cup of coffee and can’t make it to a coffee shop, I turn to this Instant Coffee Mix. Yes, I know I just included the words real and instant in the same sentence, but this is me, remember?

instantcoffeemix2

A bag contains 10 two-pack satchets.

instantcoffeemix3

I haven’t felt the need to have more than one satchet of coffee a day (yet).

instantcoffeemix4

Instant coffee, creamer, and sugar.

instantcoffeemix5

The coffee mix after hot water has been added to it.

instantcoffeemix6

The strong and creamy coffee (which tastes slighty bitter during the first few sips) after it’s been stirred 11 times. Just kidding. It was really 17 times.

Do you know if this coffee tastes like the kind at Vietnamese restaurants? I want to try this one if it does. Thanks.

Cherise: I think it tastes similar, but the Vietnamese restaurant ones are sweeter because of the condensed milk that’s usually added. You can also add condensed milk to this instant one, but it tastes fine without it (the initial bitter taste goes away).

Have you tried many other brands? I’ve been trying to find some good instant coffee worth keeping stocked in the pantry for days we don’t have time to grind/brew coffee.

Love your site! I am always trying out odd bits and pieces of Asian food.

We spent a month in Hanoi (adopting our sweet little girls) where ca phe sua is brewed slowly at the table nearly everywhere. Iced in the summer, and we got strange looks wanting it iced in their winter time temps of 70-80 degrees.

This will be similar to Vietnamese restaurants that get theirs out of a machine. Fresh brewed though is amazingly bitter and sweet at the same time.

Ivy: I’ve tried one other brand of Vietnamese instant coffee, Vinacafe, which I think tastes quite similar to this one.

I’ve had these but if you like the very sweet and creamy tasting coffee, Korean market carries the Maxim Mocha Gold in individual packets. So convenient and so addictive! First time visitor. Love your site!

Deanne: I love how strong the coffee is at Vietnamese restaurants. But I think I’d prefer low on the bitter and high on the sweet.

Mommaduke: That Korean coffee sounds really good. Unfortunately, I don’t have a Korean market near me; just Chinese, Vietnamese, and Japanese ones.

I’m new (blame it on Ree), so, I don’t know if you have already tried it, but, if you can get your hands on some Maxin Mocha Gold instant coffee mix sticks (the freeze dried kind, in the yellow box, with the pretty lady on the cover - whatever you do, do not even attempt the “nevafine” kind), DO IT. I have gotten so many people addicted to this stuff and hear about more everyday whose downfall I didn’t even have anything to do with.

Sunny: Thanks for the recommendation. The Maxim Mocha Gold Coffee Mix sounds like the same one Mommaduke mentioned. I’m going to have to look for it at my local Asian stores. They all carry some Korean stuff, just not too many. I’ll be excited to try it–I’m all for things that cause addictions. Wait, that didn’t sound right.

I found you thru Ree… and man, can I vouch for this coffee! I’m half-Vietnamese myself. I also can vouch for the Korean coffee (my town has 3 Korean Markets). Right now I’m in Iraq. My girlfriend who is Thai, sent me a care package on this and let me tell you, it came at the right moment! I was out of coffee in the desert. It was a cold and windy day…. DIVINE! In 30 seconds I had hot delicious coffee thanks to my trusty plug in hot water pot and the little packet of deliciousness. Since you haven’t tried much Korean… try http://www.koamart.com They sell Korean food. Their expensive but the do give you what you order even if you’re over 3000 miles away from home.

Lisa: Hey there! I enjoyed reading your comment; I’m glad this coffee brought you some happiness. I’m envious that you’ve got three Korean markets in your town; I’ve never even been to one. Thanks for the koaMart link (I like how they say, “…have a delicious day.” on their “About Us” page). I’m really tempted to order Maxim Mocha Gold Coffee Mix from the site, since you’re now the third person who has recommended it. Thanks for visiting, and be safe.

I have recently tried the Maxim mocha gold coffee and it’s very tasty. I like the convenience of milk and sugar added.

They have other brands and I just bought their regular and cafe late flavours to check out before deciding which one I want to buy in bulk at the korean stores.

Holly: Ah, another endorsement for the Maxim coffee. I think I need to order it online after receiving so many recommendations for it.

I will try these if I can find them, I was just introduced to Nescafe Cafe Viet. It was incredible for an instant coffee. My friend can only find it in Vietnam and we were wondering if it available here in So. California.

    Asian Aisle says:

Jim: I *think* I’ve seen Nescafe coffee in my local Asian markets, but I’ve never tried it/any. I’ll have to take a closer look next time to see if it’s Nescafe Cafe Viet. I think you should be able to find this instant coffee or something similar at So. Cal Asian markets, though.

Jim: A follow-up to my previous response: I did find Nescafe instant coffee, but it’s from China.
