Swiss Roll Cake/Wheat Cakes (Plain)

swissrollcakewheatcakesplain1

Before I do something that some of you may not like, I want to say that I love how one package of this Swiss Roll Cake comes in four individually wrapped pieces.

Because if it wasn’t, I may have to eat more than one piece of the soft and dense cake at a time. Before it goes bad, you know.

You are getting hungry…very hungry.

You want to taste the marble swirl and light cream that add another touch of sweetness to the cake.

You really, really want to taste the cream.

    Bianca-san: Oh, I try. *Cackle* ;-)
Juju: Yup, they are delicious, as good as the Cheese Mushi Cake.

Pademelon: Even if you can’t find this one, hopefully you can find something similar. I’ve seen at least a few different flavors of these swiss roll cakes (in Chinese and Japanese versions) at Asian markets. (Asian bakeries also sell them.)

*Gasp!* Mmmmmm…..I love roll cake! <3 Have you heard of Baumkuchen? It is very delicious as well. It has a bunch of very thin layers all put together to form a roll.

Also, I wanted to share something. The other day I made mashed potatoes and added Mrs. Dash (a seasoning that has like, EVERYTHING in it, even orange peel), garlic powder, butter, and a Middle Eastern Lebanese cheese called Labne Kefir cheese. It’s a VERY strong cheese (so only use a little at a time). The consistency is sort of like a very dense yogurt. BUT! All these combined were Soooooo so so delicious.

Lian: Nope, I’ve never heard of Baumkuchen. I’ve also never heard of Labne Kefir cheese. I do like all sorts of cheeses, strong and mild (I tend to prefer strong, though), so I’ll need to look for it the next time I’m at Whole Foods (or Trader Joes?). You sure do eat some interesting things, and I mean that in a good way. :-)

Slammie: I saw this cake, albeit without the marbling, in strawberry flavor. In general, I’ve also seen this swiss roll cake in chocolate, coconut, vanilla, and green tea flavors. I don’t know if you can go wrong with any of the flavors!
