Snow Peas, Snow Pea Crisps

It takes some effort to make a good stir-fry. The vegetables should be cooked just until they’re crisp, and the meat or seafood should be tender. And if you want to make it an interesting stir-fry, the ingredients should be of varying colors and textures.

It’s for those reasons that snow peas are one of my least favorite stir-fry ingredients. I usually have them in stir-fries at restaurants and I’ll eat them if they’re in the dish, but I’ve always found snow peas limp and boring.
So would I like their taste any better if they came in a chip-like form?

Yes! Especially since these baked Snow Pea Crisps have a texture like Cheetos.

That is, they have a stale crunch.

The crisps also have a light pea flavor.

And are salty but just so. I don’t think you’d feel too guilty eating a bagful of these, not that I did. Really. I’m just sayin’.


I love those crisps and sometimes between 2 of us, the bag doesn’t last the drive home.
I am NOT ashamed to admit that I HAVE polished off a whole bag by myself . . . and I HATE peas.

Bianca-san: A bag really isn’t that heavy—about 2.5 ounces—so the crisps are just asking to be eaten in one sitting, eh? And I swear they keep tasting better the more I eat them!

Ugh I have tried those Pea crips and I was so disapointed. they were stale and had almost no flavour at all. Gimme fresh snow peas anyday.

I’ve had those. My sister loves them but I think they’re just okay. The flavor isn’t very strong.
I’m eating coconut-flavored Kuai-Kuai (the Taiwanese snack I mentioned last time) and it’s very good! Tastes kind of like cereal. Pops? I think that’s the one. Or Smack[s]? It’s not too sweet/over-sweet and it’s full of crispy air holes. The pieces are big too.
I have suggestion! Have you tried goat’s milk candy? Niu-nai. (I’m just using phonetics. I don’t know about actual product name.)

Lian: I’ve never tried goat’s milk candy. I’ll have to look for it. Is it also a Taiwanese item?
I don’t know if it’s also Taiwanese. I just ate them, haha. But there are chewy kinds and tablet kinds.
Too funny! Your blog inspired me to take a trip down the “goodies” aisle at my local asian store, and these were one of the items I picked up. I liked them, they were a good snack that were pretty easy to eat. Kinda reminded me of shrimp chips.
