Lychee Flavored Sherbet With Coconut Jelly

This Lychee Flavored Sherbet With Coconut Jelly is another recommendation from reader Lian. The girl knows how to eat, and for that I am grateful.

It’s the maeda-en brand, the same one as the yummylicious Strawberry Mochi Ice Cream.

The following photos may be the most unattractive ones I’ve posted so far, but they are probably the most ‘real’ ones.

Perhaps it wasn’t the best idea to photograph the sherbet near an open window when the temperature measured 80-something degrees Fahrenheit outside. Clearly I had to do damage control, stat, by plunging a spoon into the melting mess.

(What do professional photographers use to photograph sherbet/ice cream? I thought I’d read or heard before mashed potatoes.)

Ah, much better.

The sherbet was smooth, light, and refreshing with a pleasant lychee flavor.

Small pieces of hard and opaque coconut jelly dotted the sherbet.

I had to dig a bit for them since they were sort of hard to see. While I liked the coconut jelly just fine, I would have preferred the sherbet without them because I found the scattered pieces a little distracting. But overall, this sherbet was delicious—just be mindful where and when you eat it!

Oh, I see. I was wondering what coconut jelly meant.

    Sounds great!

And food styling is a whole different beast isn’t it. I hate to think my favorite pictures of food aren’t even edible sometimes.

Oooh, I wish I had seen this earlier! I just got back from H Mart, and that looks super refreshing.

I have a suggestion for a future post.
This salmon furikake rice seasoning is SO flavorful! I sprinkle [a lot of] it on warm rice with a little bit of butter. The link isn’t for the exact brand I have, but it looks close enough: http://www.amazon.com/JFC-Salmon-Furikake-rice-seasoning/dp/B0006G5KF8/ref=pd_sim_gro_3

Dandy: Yes, reflective food and packaging are my enemies!

Ellen F.: Thanks for the recommendation. I actually have a jar of seaweed furikake rice seasoning (another rec of Lian’s—the furikake rice seasoning, not the flavor; I thought I’d play it safe and get seaweed) in my box of goods to photograph and post. I think I’ll also get the salmon flavor now—something tells me I could be using it often!
