Asian Aisle Off-Course: Mystery City

Any guesses as to which American city I visited during my vacation?
I apologize for the delay in posting. I have excuses, ones that I’m not even making up:
I’ve been sick. In my medicine-induced, cloudy-headed state, I haven’t had the energy to do much at home after work except blow through boxes of Kleenex, crunch through bags of salt and vinegar-flavored potato chips (my cure for the common cold), and catch up on episodes of The Office. Where can I find me a Jim Halpert? For real.
And I’ve been teaching a teenager how to drive. Not my teenager, mind you. But an Obviously Desperate And Naturally Surly Teenager.
Our latest session:
Me: Why are you sticking your arm out of the window?
ODANST: My Driver’s Ed teacher taught us to stick out our arm as we’re pulling out of a parallel-parking space.
Me: Nobody does that.
It’s exhausting teaching someone the wrong ways to drive.

Feel better! I have no clue which city that is, I’m just going to guess midwest.
The sandwhich looks yummy!
Sarah Lynn: Thanks; I think I’m getting there. I would still love some homemade chicken noodle soup—your favorite food—though.
Oh, and your guess? You are not close, LOL.
Are you in St. Petersburg, Florida?
The street cart, the Salmon St sign, the persistent overcast, and the fact that I lived the first 22 years of my life there make the location obvious. Did you make it to the Uwajimaya in Cedar Hills while you were there? With its tiny little Kinokuniya? Or Apizza Scholls?
Jessica J.: I have never been to Florida. Someday…
Forrest L Norvell: I mainly explored downtown Portland, and popped into the Pearl and Alphabet Districts. I very much wanted to see more of the city, but I simply wasn’t there long enough (only two days). I didn’t even get to visit Chinatown, which I only saw as we were leaving the city (I noticed that it’s close to the doughnut place). I really enjoyed my visit, though, and look forward to returning.
Apizza Scholls seems to have tasty-looking food (pizzas). Thanks for the heads-up about it.
