Mushi Cake (Brown Sugar, Chocolate Flakes, and Pudding Flavors)

It’s been almost eight months since I posted about Cheese Mushi Cake, but I knew it deserved a second mention when I saw that the cake comes in other flavors.

I mean, it’s like buying a pair of cute shoes that’s available in more than one attractive color—how could I not try other intriguing flavors?

Like Brown Sugar.

And Chocolate Flakes.

Or Pudding.

The first thing I noticed about the brown sugar one after unwrapping it was its smell. Is there a brown sugar perfume out there? Because if there isn’t, one needs to be made, stat. This cake smelled yummylicious.

It was yummylicious, in a really sweet, strong-brown-sugar flavor way.

As for the Chocolate Flakes Mushi Cake, I liked that it had chocolate flakes throughout.

Part of the fun for me of eating a treat that’s partially covered by a wrapper is unpeeling that wrapper.

almost there…

ah.

The unpeeling-of-the-wrapper anticipation was worth it.

The light chocolate flakes lent another layer of sweetness, and melted as I ate the cake.

As for the Pudding Mushi Cake, I was surprised by it.

I thought I would like it the least because the two other flavors sounded more interesting, but I actually liked it the best.

puddingmushicake4

This cake was the lightest in flavor.

Almost buttery, like butter pound cake. (Butter and cake are two of my most favorite words in the English language.)

Overall, I really liked all three cakes, finding them not too moist or dry. They make great breakfast items or afternoon snacks.

Interesting. I have never seen nor heard of these Mushy cakes.

I’ll have to keep and eye out for them in the future.

Bianca-san: It may help to know that I found them in a refrigerated case.

I too have not heard of these before. They remind me of some kind of mini sponge cake but they look so much more fluffier, I bet they are a pleasure to chew.

Heathers cakes: I find these cakes more dense and more moist than American-style sponge cakes. I quite like their texture and available flavors.

*Gasp!* They come in different flavors?! I want to try them! I’ve had the pudding one (so good.) I agree whole-heartedly with the brown sugar perfume idea! Sometimes it just smells too good not to want more of (the smell.)
