Bottled Thai Tea, Instant Thai Tea, and Tea Time Mug

I like the flavor of tea. And I like the consistency of coffee with milk or half-and-half. I got this drink because of the promise of both those things.

I just want to point out something that I think is pretty ingenious about this item—the advertising found on both sides of its neck. Here you see an ad for a Green Tea N’ Cream drink (the other side displayed a picture of Thai Tea Powder).

The advertising doesn’t involve only pictures, though. It also includes the words, “Made from finest ingredients.” (The distributor of this drink is a company called Taste Nirvana.)

So did this drink meet the hype?

Um, no? Let’s just say I have some doubts about the finest water, Thai herbal tea extract, sugar, and non-dairy creamer used.  I do know that all of those ingredients produced a sweet drink that tasted like tea and cream with a slight, yet-not-unpleasant bitterness.

And this tea bag you see is one side of a mug from the Japanese dollar store where I’ve purchased other things that I really, really needed.

So yeah, Thai Tea comes in instant powdered form as well.

The design of this packet doesn’t make sense to me. Shouldn’t it have been made so that you tear across rather than down the packet?

It’d be much more convenient and cleaner to dump the contents in a mug, then.

That is, the cream, sugar, and Thai tea powder.

The Instant Thai Tea after adding hot water (it can also be served cold or better yet, iced). I liked this drink more than the Bottled Thai Tea. Although the tea flavor wasn’t as strong, it was sweeter and held just a trace of bitterness.

The closest American coffee house drink I would liken both drinks to is Chai Tea, without the spice.

The other side of the mug that I really, really had to buy.

I bought another version of the Thai tea and I was thursty and driving while I opened it all cold from the store. My first reaction was YUCK who dropped a truckload of sugar in this drink then the bitter tea taste and the dairy creamer aftertaste. :P It wasn’t a pleasant experienced, I had to wait to get back home to wash down the taste UGH… I tried it later and still it was just so bad for me. And I usually put sugar in my tea. No… not my cup of tea. But I do enjoy Instant 3 in 1 instant Vietnamese coffee though.

That tea bag image on the side of the cup; Genius. I like Thai tea as well. I would usually get it at a restaurant though, or with boba in it.

Lian: Yeah, I’m a sucker for clever/whimsical/quirky things. I’ve had fresh Thai tea at restaurants as well, but never with boba. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that offering, actually. Huh.

They have it at my school in the cafeteria. The green tea boba there is also really good.
