Thai Restaurant 1

Lunch Special. You’ve got to appreciate this offering that in Asian restaurants can include a starter like this light soup with tofu, cabbage, and green onions.

And a spring roll stuffed with cabbage and carrots, to be dipped in fish sauce.
Two items that were a bit uninspired, yes, so it’s a good thing I had more of my lunch special coming to me.

Before I get to my plate, though, here’s my dining companion’s Pad See-ew.

Pan-fried, wide rice noodles with chicken, broccoli, and egg in a sweet soy sauce.

So, my plate. I’m a bit embarrassed by my order. Somehow, I don’t think you’d find this at any restaurant in Thailand:
Lunch Combo E:
Soup
Spring roll
Pad Thai with tofu
Garlic chicken
Jasmine white rice

I love the chewiness of these Pad Thai noodles.

And the crunchy contrast of the crushed peanuts.

And vibrant colors of the carrots and purple cabbage.

The fried tofu cubes also lent an interesting textural contrast.

Chicken and garlic sauce.

Chicken in garlic sauce.

Garlic sauccccce.

I can eat Pad Thai any time any day. Yum yum!
I love Thai food! It’s my second favorite Asian cuisine after Indian. But I’m a wuss. I usually order 1 or 2 stars. I learned my lesson the hard way after I was dared to eat a 4 star order of some noodle dish. I think some of my taste buds died that day.
Garlic sauce would make anything taste good. Also love Pad thai … especially with the crushed peanuts, yum!
Mmm…more food. Haha! I love getting pad see-ew. Only, I usually get it with fried tofu. When you say sauce, don’t you ever feel like saying, “saw-sayyy!”? Make it sassy sauce. Sauce with an attitude.
Chau: The way you feel about Pad Thai is how I feel about pho. And I find that Pad Thai doesn’t taste that great as a leftover…so you kind of have to eat the whole plate of it at the restaurant, ya know?
Gerry K: I’m a max 2 stars kind of girl, too. I’ve eaten spicy meals where tears were literally running down my faceānot fun or pretty! I wanna enjoy my food without pain.
Cynthia: Is there such a thing as too much garlic sauce? Well, I guess your dining companion(s) may say yes…
Lian: Sassy Sauce.
Interesting flavors…
Yum yum yum! Whenever we went to this Thai food place in the Philippines, we always got spring rolls, peanut chicken, and some sort of spicy/tangy seafood soup.
