Vietnamese Deli Part II

I know I stated that part II would be desserts, and it is, but I’ve got one more savory item for you made with glutinous/sticky rice…

and topped with Chinese sausage…

as well as dried shrimp and green onions.

The glutinous/sticky rice. If you’ve never had this type of rice, it’s softer than white rice/Jasmine Thai rice, with a ’sticky’ texture.

So sticky, it can be hard to pull apart (the green part is from food coloring).

Cream Puffs.

God, I’m so predictable.

You understand why I had to eat two of them back-to-back, though, don’t you?

A tapioca thingamajig. I don’t know this dessert’s official name because it wasn’t labeled (don’t tell the Health Department).

It had a yellow bean taste and jelly (very wiggly) consistency.

My bamboo table mat, bought in the gift section of a Japanese supermarket.
Whew. For a picnic that comprised deli-bought items, that was a bit of work.

I like sticky rice with fresh mango. And I could probably eat that whole tray of cream puffs myself, LOL!
I can eat those cream puffs all day long!
YESS!! Love that thai sticky rice with coconut milk and fresh mango dessert you get at thai restaurants!! Have you had that?
Connie and Julie: I’ve been wanting to try sticky rice with fresh mango, but have yet to see it at a Thai restaurant. I’ve had black sticky rice with coconut milk and freshly shredded coconut, which was delicious.
Becky: Yeah…for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert!
“Cream puffs! I loves cream puffs!” That’s what I said, verbatim, when I saw those pics. I feel a bit like a Lolcat. Oh my gosh, the custard….mmm…And I’ve had that green dessert thing too! The one that’s layered and I think has mung bean flavor and possibly pandan? (Pandan custard is dreamily delicious by the way.)
