Salty Raisin

I tell myself I don’t like raisins. I’ve convinced myself of it. Yet, I find myself biting into oatmeal raisin cookies, tearing into packs of Raisinets, and reaching for a container of Salty Raisin.

Raisins can be kind of pretty, really.

All smoky and fall-like colors on the outside…

and gem-tones on the inside…

topaz, maybe?

Another shade of topaz?
All right, raisins can be tasty, like these ones were. Very sweet with a salty undertone, to be more specific.
I’d love to give the rest to TAMS, to see what food magic she could come up with using these sweet and salty raisins…and I may, possibly, perhaps, definitely would try it.
Kitties and Toms, I’m going on a much-needed vacation. Life (work) has been crazy-busy lately, and I just need to…not work. For several days. I’ll be going to California (Disneyland, Universal Studios, SeaWorld, and Legoland) with 15 family members, half of whom are kids (I’m not sure which category I fall under—kid or adult?).
I have a few hopes for this trip:
* That I keep my sanity. (Please pray that I do. Because, you know, sanity is needed for taking food photos.)
* That my older sister doesn’t give me her ‘K punch.’ That is, holding one of my arms in place while she lays a few punches on it. In her defense, she did it when we were kids, many years ago. And she’s kind of weird. (It runs in the family, I guess.)
* That my other older sister does catch her son and me jumping on a bed again. In my defense, bed-jumping is fun (only when you have a firm mattress, though).
I hope y’all are having a good summer wherever you are. Know that you’ll be in my thoughts during the vacation, as you often are everyday. I’ll return with food photos…

I’m not supposed to like raisins. I hate finding them in chocolate chips cookies. Yet… sometimes a big old cluster of raisins stuck together like some kind of clusterfxxk (sorry
) of awesome sweet chewiness… I won’t lie. It’s pretty awesome.

Wei-Wei: Um, I’m not supposed to like every word of your comment, but I do.
Salty raisins sound really good. I also like your first pic with that blue blue blue.
Ditto over here. I like oatmeal raisin cookies but on its own, I eschew raisins.
Sooj: There is like a permanently on flashing thought in my brain that goes, “Do not like raisins! Do not like raisins!” that doesn’t reach my mouth. Thanks for the compliment about the first photo. It was taken with the DSLR, as was the second, but not the rest. I like the first photo’s ‘soft’ look.
Lian: Glad to know you feel the same way about raisins.
And I think eschew is an under-used word…hmm…I also eschew liver and lima beans and…
Yes! One of the few times I actually used an SAT word. (Maybe I don’t give myself enough credit. I might use such words more than I realize. Haha, maybe not.) Anyway, I’m glad you’re back from your vacation! I look forward to your posts.
