I don’t know how to say this, other than to just say it: These Japanese Style Taro Mochi smell like wet socks. Thankfully, though, they don’t taste like them. Not that I actually know how wet socks taste. I think I really need some sleep.

This Red Bean Ice Bar is basically a sweet popsicle filled with red beans. The most awesome thing about it is that there are red beans in every bite. Every. Bite. Yay! (I looked up how to spell ‘popsicle’ because really, it’s been years since I’ve written that word, and learned that it’s called ‘ice lolly’ in England. Cute, huh?)

Strawberry Mochi Ice Cream. Strawberry Mochi Ice Cream! A soft rice cake filled with sweet strawberry ice cream that makes a light snack or dessert. After taking the second photo, I cut a mochi in half intending to photograph the ice cream part. But before I could do that, the ice cream had oozed out, getting all over my fingers. So I did what came instinctively—I popped the mochi into my mouth. One half-piece at a time because geez, I’m not a glutton. Wait, maybe I am. I ate two more pieces of mochi after seeing them in their pale-pink, blown-up glory on my computer screen.

Fresh Longans, Longan in Syrup

To eat fresh longans, peel the brown skin to reveal the translucent sweet and juicy flesh, and chew around the black seed. When this tropical fruit is out of season and unavailable in grocery stores, there’s an alternative that should be readily purchasable.
